Let’s Start

February 25, 2009 at 8:19 am (Uncategorized)

Back after a while, I’m beginning to write my dissertation. Last mounth besides other undergoing projects, we agreed about the detail plan of the dissertation. Today is the beginning.

I tried to run a project management software to manage this job, but till know it was not successful. I tried a bunch of free tools, read some hints on the net, but not yet. Anyway, I’ll back to this subject and will tell you more if I found something.

See you soon;

The Netherlands

December 25, 2008 at 9:42 am (Foreign connections, My Life)

Back to The Netherlands; Yes, I’m here. The City is called Heemstede, neer to Haarlem. We used to live in Delft, as my wife and I were working at TU Delft. Since I finished my one year vacancy and moved back to France, she prefered here rather than Delft for her temprary stay.

In my other blog I wrote about the TU temptation (sorry it is in Persian). I’ve realy admired the TU Delft research activities. Hard working, focused, industry oriented, and both qualitative and quantitative in publication. By the chance, I happend to to have a visitory position for almost 6 months at TU, Biomechanical Engineering Department, in a group called MISIT. It was a good experience, have learned many things and many good people. I’ll wrote about them later.

By the way, I do regret all the things I could do and I didn’t. It passed too soon. I’ll come back once more, for the defence of my wife, and it seems to be the last time. Who knows?

Joy of science

December 19, 2008 at 4:52 pm (Uncategorized)

Once agian, a nice well-writen paper made me excited about the design research, writing and all. It just passed in my mind to call it exscientation. Viva the real researchers, viva the real science.

By the way, these days I’m full time focused on writing papers, phd dissertation planning and so being buthered by long last days meetings. J’en ai marre.

Finally I decided to work the last weekend, before leaving on vacation. That would be helpful if nobody comes – specially my dear collegue who is always chating on the phone, I can write something! Let’s see.

Presentations! I’m giving another talk today afternoon at the university for the master students. The course subject is the innovative design, and I am going to bring them to the medical and surgical innovation and sscientific approach to the innovation proccess.

Like it and don’t like it. That is the question of everytime. I don’t if I woud stay at university and giving talks and all, or these are the last experiences. Bytheway, it is hard to make them amused the whole 90 minutes.  This would be the before last bing thing before the holidays. The last bing thing is PhD reunin with my supervisors on Friday.

Design Conferences

December 15, 2008 at 8:54 am (Publication)

Such a title! Yes, I’m preparing myself for two design conferences which can be considered as the best chance to be present in the design community: The ICED 09 and the IDETC 09. The good thing is both will be held in the states and not far from each other. The not so good thing is the deadlines.

For poor Phd student like me who works on the design methodology, there is almos no place to here about what is happening on research fields. Yet, the journals and the IDETC transactions are the best sources. Unfortunately, the desing methodology studies is not à la mode anymore.

I went to ICED 07 which was in Paris and which was realy good. I don’t doubt that the Stanford would be the Best. Let’s prepare!

On scenarios

December 8, 2008 at 11:20 am (Uncategorized) (, )

No readers, No commetns, nothing. It is called the beginnig. But I like my blog. Tommorow I’ll give a talk on the Scenarios and Scenario-based Design (SBD) approach in our monthly meeting. I’ll upload the slide here if any one likes to take a look.

We have submitted a paper for the CIRP Design conference, March 2009 UK, in which I explained the contribution of the SBD in Healthcare design process and accordingly I proposed some new perceptions for the scenario definition. I am going to bring the idea to the presentation in order to have my colleagues returns and discussions.

To PhD

December 5, 2008 at 8:48 am (Uncategorized) ()

I don’t know how many of you are doing your PhD, but if you are, then my friend, your are not alone. PhD students all over the world experience the same situation and circumstances. Moreover, during the last year the PhD’s get more similar characters, in dressing, in hopelessnes, in stress of work seeking, in their couple relation, …

But, don’t forget; You are not alone!

For the first

December 4, 2008 at 11:20 am (Uncategorized)

Hi Everybody

In less than a year, I’ll defend My PhD. The Subject has something to do with design, but nobody knows exactly what. We all wait for the final report. But I tell you what I know; first, the context is about Innovation in modern surgical instruments, and the approach is some how design collaboration, user integration and so on. Let’s say Design methodology of Innovative Surgical Instruments. You know what I mean by the innovative? The new comming surgeries in Minimally Invasive form and even non invasive which are called Natural Orifices Surgery.

I’m not going to tell you more in this very first post, but, you are so kind if you read this blog, and is it appriciated if you come with me through this journey. Let’s see.

As I’m doing my PhD in Grenoble, France, you have no doubt that the report should be written in French. You are wrong. My super supervisers have agreed to make the dissertation in English. You know, nothing is impossible. Find more about were I work (G-SCOP laboratory) and the where I live, the beautiful city of Grenoble
